Centre Positions and Affiliations
Distinguished Visiting Professor
Persons with internationally recognized academic, literary, or artistic qualifications may be appointed for a period up to one semester as a Distinguished Visiting Professor. This is a paid appointment, depending on qualifications, and requires providing lectures and/or a seminar. Candidates are nominated by SFU faculty and appointments are approved by the Centre Advisory Committee.
Resident Scholar
Persons with significant academic, literary, or artistic qualifications whose work may benefit from a residency at the CCSMSC may apply for this non-stipendiary status. The position provides University affiliation, use of the University Library, office space, and membership in facilities. Residents are expected to participate in Centre activities by attending lectures, workshops, and colloquia and presenting original research. Appointments are for a maximum of one year, with the possibility of renewal for an additional year. Applicants should submit a letter of application, a current CV, and a research proposal by February 1.
Postdoctoral Fellow
Junior scholars who have received a doctorate degree within the last three years may apply for the non-stipendiary status of Postdoctoral Fellow. Fellows receive the use of University and Centre facilities and participate in the activities of the Centre by attending lectures, workshops, and colloquia and presenting a research paper. Applicants should submit a letter of application, a current CV, and a research proposal by February 1.
Research Associate
Persons residing in the greater Vancouver area with academic, literary, or artistic qualifications may apply for the non-stipendiary status of Research Associate for the purposes of a specific research project within the area of Muslim societies and cultures. Academic qualifications include a completed PhD from a reputable institution. This position provides access to University research facilities, but not office space. Associates attend Centre lectures, workshops, and colloquia and report on their research projects. Positions are for a maximum of one year, renewable on application. Applicants should submit a letter of application, a current cv, and a research proposal to the below address by February 1.
Research Assistant
Graduate students and upper division undergraduate students in good standing at Simon Fraser University may apply for a Research Assistantship at the Centre. This is a paid position, depending on qualifications, and requires a willingness to work on research and/or organization at the Centre. Positions are available on a periodic basis and posted on the Centre web-site.
